In NSW, disputes between insurers and injured motorists concerning their statutory benefits are resolved by the Dispute Resolution Service (“DRS”). DRS applications are typically prepared by solicitors on their clients’ behalf, meaning that individuals are reliant on their legal representatives for guidance and clarity on the process.
Recently however, the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (“SIRA”) established an online DRS Portal, which enables injured motorists or their representatives to lodge applications online in an easier, more efficient manner. The online portal provides individuals with full transparency and enables them to track the progress of their dispute applications in real-time.
Individuals can also communicate digitally within the portal and have the benefit of accessing all paperwork on a single platform. In order to use the platform, individuals must register an account with Service NSW. The portal must then be added to their Service NSW dashboard. Once complete, documents can be completed and uploaded efficiently.
If you have any questions about the portal or motor accidents generally, email Antonela Josipovic, or call on (02) 6648 7487.
